Alpine Plants Ecology, Biogeography and Conservation
Objectives of the course
The course covers aspects of alpine plant diversity, systematic, reproduction, conservation biology, vegetation ecology and biogeography. Excursions and teamwork on case studies will be carried out in an alpine environment (Northern Apennines). Students receive hands-on training in field monitoring plant population dynamics in response to global change, plant translocations and in sampling plant functional traits. Subsequent training will involve lab exercises on measuring plant functional traits (vegetative and reproductive) and data analysis.
