Geophysical exploration for near-surface target detection and imaging

Docente: Patrizio Torrese (UniPV)

The course is focused on the detection, imaging and analysis of near-surface targets within earth and environmental sciences and provides the concepts and tools necessary for the setting up of a near-surface geophysical exploration campaign, i.e., survey design, data collection, processing and interpretation, the understanding of the factors affecting the choice of the prospecting method. Methods the course is focused on includes electric methods, active and passive seismic methods, microseismic analysis, synthetic modelling of geophysical data. The course consists of lectures, design and carrying out of a geophysical campaign, computer practicals involving processing and interpretation of geophysical data.

Verifica finale: Sì.
The assessment of learning outcomes involves the  deliver of a short essay that briefly describes  a project carried out during the class, in its phases of design of the geophysical campaign, data acquisition on the field, data processing and interpretation.
