The course aims to provide the basis of experimental ecology, focusing on the essential elements of ecological experiments and on the best practices to conduct them. After a first theoretical part, during which the different types of field experiments will be presented and the main rules to be considered when designing them will be analyzed, a practical activity is planned. In particular, students will be asked to try designing a field experiment, in order to collect data regarding one of the proposed research topics, defining the experimental design in detail and indicating the attended results.

The course will end with an examination and participants will be given a certificate of attendance.
